Last Week is definitely different from the piano compositions I’ve previously released. I’ve been looking to improve my production, mixing, and mastering, so this is my first published attempt under “telepathics”. Additionally, I kind of really want to get over this stupid anxiety I have about releasing stuff. At the end of the day, music is just music. Also, no one really cares about what I do as an artist. I’m not even a big deal, so why do I care?
I wrote this in two days, over a weekend when I couldn’t sleep. I was just talking with my buddy Jupe all night and working on this song. It was a pretty great weekend. Also, the cover art is a picture Quentin took of me at Electric Forest. I thought it fit.
There isn’t really much else to say about it. However, I had a lot of fun writing it.
The Work In Progress
So, I currently have 13 exported renders of this track. Here was the very first one:
After getting some feedback, I added some aggressive side-chaining (this was my first time doing that). Then, I added a sub bass. Finally, I structured it into a comprehensive song and added the electro-flute/piano-ish section.
Usually, when I write piano compositions, I get scared of adding more elements. That is why my previous releases are very thin and don’t have much colour. I was really happy to be able to step out of my comfort zone for this, and I had a lot of fun with it as well.
However, I did make two more attempts at restructuring the composition, but I was too attached to the first version.
