Hello friends! I entered my first remix contest. It would truly mean a lot if you took a listen
and voted for me (voting ended Aug 31, 2018 at 23:59 PST). Vote Here: http://bit.ly/vote-telepathics-better-not
Thank you for 96 votes & getting me to 3rd place in the voting round!
Judging is in progress and the official winners will be announced soon.
It’s actually kinda cool because I met Louis the Child at Electric Forest! When I saw their contest up on Wavo, I really wanted to do it, even if it doesn’t win (though of course, I tried my best!).
Update (8/31/2018 @ 7:59 PM)
OH MY GOD LOUIS THE CHILD REPOSTED AND FAVOURITED MY TRACK.
Joseph messaged me on Facebook to let me know. My blood sugar dropped immediately. That is absolutely insane. I’ve been telling my friends all throughout the contest that I at least want them to listen to it. This was much more than that.
Remix Release Notes
I’ve been working on this throughout the entire month of August. I brought it with me when I went to Park City with my family, I came home from work every day and immediately opened up Ableton to work on it. By the end of it, I had a love-hate relationship with the production quality of it, but I still love the structure and idea of it.
Sorry that there aren’t a lot of release links for this one — you can get disqualified for that. The winner does get an official release, though! So, if that’s something you want, please vote for me.
The Work In Progress
I have 37 renders of this project. To be fair, about half of those were only exported to listen to the full track because my CPU was struggling when I would preview the file. So far in my journey learning music production, this has definitely been my largest Ableton file. Keep in mind that I started taking it more seriously in April/May, so I’m definitely still a beginner. This was the first render:
You can hear that the idea is there, but it was very sloppily put together. I’m glad I was able to kind of clean it up throughout the next couple of weeks. My buddy Charlie also came to visit and showed me some neat production tips! So, I really gotta give him the shouts for that.
What’s kind of funny is that the vocals are in E Major, but I wrote the remix in its relative key, C#minor. I think my ears are broken. I didn’t even realise until Quentin pointed out that the vocals sounded off.
I have a couple of projects that I’m working on, namely some music and sfx for my friend Louca‘s mobile app game, and some voice stuff for my friend Evelyn! I’m super excited for both of these projects, even though I’ve let them sit on the back-burner while working on this remix. Thanks for understanding, guys.
In general, I’ve been in kind of a weird mood lately. Very down on myself about my skills and progress and stuff. Hopefully it passes soon. I also applied for a full-time web development job, and I really hope I get it, but that means that I’ll have less time to work on music.
And of course, I want to give a big thank you to my Patreon friends, who support me through everything, and gave me a lot of encouragement with this remix entry.
